Ta 283 A rocket boosted pulse jet fighter. Another aircraft from the Luft'46 range. Capable of speeds of 1098kmph [682mph]. There was no taxiing with this aircraft, just hit the button and the rocket motor sends you into action, like the Messerschmitt 163. Which would allow the tail mounted pulse jets to start. |
Undercarriage assembly fits to the underside of the cockpit floor. Some of the parts themselves, bare only a passing resemblance to those depicted on the instruction sheet. There are some very finely moulded parts for the undercarriage. They were very easy to slice from the sprue, due to the softness of the plastic. |
The wheels were an easy fit.The cockpit interior parts fit onto the upper side of the undercarriage assembly... I found some of the interior parts were far from a perfect fit with the fuselage interior... constant dry fitting was neccesary to align them. |
Cockpit, instrument panel and front wheel go inside. An optional one piece pilot is supplied. A weight in the front, |

Before glueing the halves together, I put the instrument decal on the panel... It was just a bit too big for the panel supplied.. A bit of creative cutting was required.... |

| Wings and engines attach easily. Although not perfectly, the fits are no worse than most other models. The canopy was a bad fit at first, requiring a bit of a scrape to have it sit properly. |
The kit comes with basic Balkenkreuz for fuselage and wings, with a possible Hakenkreuz for the tail. This is one for using up those spare decals. |

This is the first Huma kitset that I have encountered. For the model's size it comes in a seemingly oversized box, due to the fact that most of the parts come on one enclosed sprue. The Ta 283 has about as many parts as you might find in an airfix series one kit. There are fine parts for the undercarriage foot pedals and joystick, on a second very small enclosed sprue. The kit itself, I obtained from NKR models in Australia. |
